I am a teacher, maker, designer and lover of all things Fashion and Textiles. I trained in Fashion and Textiles at Ravensbourne College of Design and enjoyed a successful career as a designer for 11 years, designing and pattern cutting for high end fashion brands including Biba, Red or Dead, Warehouse, Principles and Kaliko. I also designed and made costumes for the Ballroom Dancing Industry which included creating bespoke, couture dresses for elite international dancers including Erin Boag. After my most creative project (becoming a Mum), I retrained and qualified as a teacher of Fashion and Textiles. I have over 10 years’ experience of teaching including leading BTEC courses in Fashion, currently I am teaching GCSE and A level Textile Design. Finding time in my busy life to explore creative projects for myself has become more important to me as my boys grow up (it seems I am surplus to requirements now, excluding taxi service, chef and first aider). So, follow me, like my page, or book into a workshop and find the time in your busy life to explore your creativity.
Workshops range from creating occasional decorations for Christmas, Halloween and Easter to Crazy Creatures. Needle felting is a fun, easy technique to learn using wool roving to create 3-dimensional tactile pieces.
Workshops range from using traditional shibori techniques with pure cotton and indigo dyes to creating multicoloured t shirts or unicorn inspired rainbow bags.
Learn to use your sewing machine as a drawing tool to create portraits, floral details and abstract pieces of art textiles.
Workshops are usually set over a weekend beginning with an introduction to basic pattern cutting, followed by creating made to measure blocks from which to develop a range of garment styles.
Social sewing sessions with expert advice and guidance with a focus on garment making.
Workshops range from canvas tote bags to embellished evening bags.
